Fine Art Adventure ...

Wed Dec 3, 2008, 4:14 PM
I'm not one to write about myself that much but i thought i would up date my journal and write my second entry, although in terms of my work and creative development a very important one. As of late September '08 I've joined a Masters degree in Fine Art, so my work should take on some valuable drastic changes, hopefully for the better. the last few deviant posts I've uploaded have been either old sculpts or new photograph, i will still be focusing on figurative sculpture but ill be pushing for the idea more than just sculpting something nice. hopefully with great ideas and improved sculptures i will be greater pleased with my work.

watch this space.

Hi, thanks for watching :)

Your work is outstanding! Do you ever do sculpture for the sake of it, just for yourself?
:iconspecialneedsmonkey:
haha i wouldnt say my work is outstanding, come on your work is amazing! i was taken back lookin at it. it made me really want to push myself to sculpt more!

Ah, we're all our own worst critics, eh? I take a lot of inspiration directly from Renaissance work which has grandeur sort of built in. I can only do what I do cause I've spent a lot of time trying to learn from the great sculptors from history.

The smashed zombie head is pretty damn impressive - did the teeth get implanted into the coloured version or did they decide to leave them out? I reckon it'd have looked more messed up with the teeth showing :)
:iconspecialneedsmonkey:
i just find it really funny when someone of your standard of work compliments me :)

yea i put the teeth back in, i cast them in dental acrylic so they looked just as real as normal teeth, i just didnt upload a finished pic because i was replicating a zombie makeup someone else did and they didnt do the make up well so the finished thing didn't look as good. i'd like to do another smashed head someday :)
